Learning the Quran Online With an Urdu- and English-Speaking Teacher
When families search for an online Quran teacher, they usually compare price, schedule and credentials. One thing is often overlooked: the language the teacher actually explains things in. For a child, an anxious beginner, or a parent who wants to follow along, being taught in a language they are fully comfortable with changes how quickly they learn — and how willing they are to ask questions.
Why the language of instruction matters
- Young children learn best when instructions are simple and familiar. If a child has to translate the teacher's explanation in their head before they can act on it, lessons feel harder than they are.
- Adult beginners are often hesitant to ask for repetition. A teacher who can explain a point a second way, in a second language, removes that barrier.
- Parents who want to support practice at home can only help if they understand what was taught.
- Pronunciation is easier to correct when the teacher can describe, in your own language, where the sound is made and how it differs from the one you are producing.
Arabic is still the goal
Reading the Quran correctly means producing Arabic sounds accurately, whatever language the explanation is in. A good teacher uses the language you understand to explain, and Arabic to model the correct sound. At Saba Quran, classes can be taught in English, Urdu and Arabic, so explanations can move between languages as the student needs.
What to ask before choosing a teacher
- Which languages do you teach in, and can you switch if my child does not understand?
- Do you have experience with beginners and with my child's age group?
- Is your background check and ID verification visible and verifiable? You can see how we handle this on our safeguarding page.
- Can we have a free trial first?
